Active Directory is deployed in most organizations as the central network directory service and used for primary authentication – at least for Windows user. However there are frequently UNIX and Linux systems out there and more and more users want to use an Apple Macintosh. Thus, companies have to think about how to maximize the value of the central Active Directory platform whilst being able to integrate other systems like Linux, Unix, Mac. There are several vendors out there with different approaches, some of them supporting a full integration of Unix and Linux Management into AD. The panel will discuss what is needed, look at the limitations and experience with such approaches and talk about alternatives to that type of integrations, like using E-SSO or provisioning to achieve at least some of the results.
